Urinary infections, treated at the root.

Care for recurrent and complicated infections, including a look for any underlying cause so they stop coming back.

Led by Dr. Fazal Abbas, MBBS, FCPS (Urology), Consultant Urologist.

Understanding UTIs

A urinary tract infection can affect the bladder, the kidneys or both. Common signs include burning while passing urine, frequent or urgent need to go, cloudy or foul-smelling urine, and lower abdominal discomfort.

When infections keep returning, the cause is worth finding. A stone, incomplete bladder emptying or a structural issue can be behind repeated infections, and treating only the symptoms is not enough.

How we treat it

Right test, right treatment, and a plan to prevent the next one.

Common questions

Still unsure? Send your question on WhatsApp and the team will guide you.

When should I see a urologist?

If infections keep coming back (for example two or more in six months), if you are a man with a UTI, or if you also have blood in the urine or stone symptoms, a urology assessment is worthwhile.

Do I always need antibiotics?

Not in every situation. Your doctor decides based on symptoms and test results, and a urine culture helps choose the right medicine.

Can I do anything to prevent infections?

Staying well hydrated, not delaying urination and following the advice given after your assessment can help. Your doctor will tailor this to the cause found.

Urgent warning signs

Fever with flank pain, shaking chills, vomiting or inability to pass urine may mean a kidney infection or blockage. Please go to the emergency department.
